Northwestern's "Braces Kid"
Back in 2017, a video clip of a distraught braces-clad basketball fan became a viral sensation. Dubbed the "Northwestern Braces Kid," the metal mouthed sports enthusiast was often noted for his intense reaction to his team's loss.
And what’s up with this kid’s braces anyway? Hasn’t orthodontics made great strides in braces? Don’t they make invisible braces these days? This is about an old school a braces set up as you’ll ever see. Classic metallic format with rubber bands? When’s the last time you saw a kid with braces that had rubber bands? I mean I had rubber bands but that was in 1992.
Actually, I was an adult with braces around 2003-2005, and I had to wear elastics myself. So the kid's ortho is not too out of date. Those are some pretty notable rubber bands, though!
