Alan and Marcia: Making 70s Braces Cool

 

A classic moment for braces on TV:  the 1970 Brady Bunch episode "Brace Yourself," where Marcia and her boyfriend Alan get braces.  Ironically, while the actors who played Bobby, Jan and Cindy actually had braces in the course of the series (but were never mentioned), both of these braces are fake TV props.  Nevertherless, it was a breakthrough moment for teen television orthodontia.
